A Gift from the Sea

This week we’ve taken inspiration from the sea. Using a sight size approach, we drew seashells from an etching found on http://etc.usf.edu//clipart. Drawing “sight size” provides a 1 to 1 comparison between our drawing and our subject and helps to train our eyes. We then transferred our drawings to watercolor paper and applied a mix of watercolors and iridescent acrylic paints to make the seashells shimmer. Some of us added “lost and found” lines with Conte pencil to add a little flair. FUN!

Check out Naperville Art League’s “Fabulous Fakes” show with opening reception February 19. I added my entry to the “Gallery” above under “Paintings”. Enjoy!
