A Bevy of Beauties

Our classroom is bursting with blossoms! Taking a cue from the artist Georgia O’Keeffe, we zoomed in on blooms, drawing sections of closely cropped flowers. We found inspiration from an image at http://etc.usf.edu//clipart and drew the flower on a large scale with white pastel pencil on 11 by 14 inch black posterboard. We then used Elmer’s glue and traced all of our pastel lines with the glue, allowing our drawings to dry until the next class. Once the glue was dry, we used oil pastels in delicious colors and layered color upon color, resulting in rich hues. The dried glue added marvelous texture. Stunning!
