The Landscape — Teen / Adult Class, GR 9 through adult
$252.00
THE LANDSCAPE
Join me on a full and robust journey through landscape painting. This class is available to high school teens and adults. Topics for our seven classes include:
Week one: Simplifying the landscape, using notan, and finding the “big shapes”
Week two: Choosing a picture format
Week three: Composition and the rectangular armature
Week four: Demystifying color theory and color palettes
Week five: Considering Principles of Design
Week six: Understanding linear and atmospheric perspective
Week seven: Critiquing your work
We will apply our new skills and test various choices by experimenting on small supports with acrylic paints. We will also work on individual landscape projects selected by the student. Your new knowledge will help you to draw or paint the landscape with creative, yet convincing, realism.
A short supply list of drawing tools will be emailed upon registration. Acrylic paints, brushes, and canvases are included. Students are welcome to bring alternative media such as oil paints or pastels. Students are also encouraged to bring a sketchbook for note-taking and personal use. This class can be repeated session after session for students who wish to work on individual landscape projects and receive ongoing feedback. (min 8 / max 12) If stock shows 0, contact Kim at kim@kimrothart.com to be added to a wait-list or possible future class. Easel options are based upon order of sign up. The first nine students registered in each class have options for standing easels. Art benches and table easels are also available.
