I wanted you, my dear art friends, to have the first glimpse of my recent painting, Ponder Anew. What a JOY to paint the Holy Family!
In the Gospel of Luke, the shepherds “went with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger.” This is the setting of my painting, where we find the Holy Family cradled together and warmed by heavenly light. Mary, who treasured all these things and “pondered them in her heart,” gazes upon Jesus who extends His little finger toward Joseph. In her pondering, Mary raises her little finger as well, echoing that of her Son.

I absolutely love your painting of the Holy Family, titled Ponder Anew! I love the closeness felt between Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus. The warmth of the lighting adds to the feelings of love and adoration. I am so very impressed with Mary’s hands, which wouldl have been so very difficult to paint. What a treasure–thank you for sharing little details about the painting.
